The Region

Set amongst the Tauern, Carnic and Karawanken Alpine chain, Carinthia is a region with nearly 200 lakes and ponds. Also the summit Grossglockner, which reaches 3800 meters, being situated on the border between Carinthia, eastern Tyrol and Salzburg. The region also enjoys a mild climate with the highest amount of sunshine of all the regions in Austria.

To arrive in Villach / Klagenfurt by car from North (D, CZ) take the A10 Tauernautobahn (via Munich and Salzburg); from Italy take the A2 Südautobahn via Udine and Tarvisio; from the southeast (SLO, HR) take the A11 Karawankenautobahn; from the East (H, CZ, RO, SK) take the A2 Südautobahn
Take the Faakersee exit and follow the Warmbad sign.
Arrival by train
Intercity trains run every two hours between Carinthia and all important European cities. The two biggest train stations (Klagenfurt and Villach) can be comfortably reached via direct connections from all neighbour countries.
